History
Received Ordinances in 1479 but the 1672 Charter was opposed by the Corporation. In addition to
constructing streets and pavements, the Company was responsible for removing scavenging pigs. The
Livery of 250 is representative of the industry. A Chair of Highway Engineering is operated
through the City University. London University is also supported.
