These are self-assumed arms and are of no authority.

History:
The Mistery was mentioned in 1379 and received its Charter in 1670. A patten was an undershoe to raise an ordinary shoe above the mud. The shoe trade is well represented in the Livery of over 200. Prizes are given in competitions and scholarships to City schools. Charities are concentrated towards 'young enterprise'.
