History:
The first regulations were promulgated in 1356. The Livery was granted in 1481 and a Charter in 1677. The Livery of about 100 includes architects and construction-industry representatives. Awards are made to stonemason apprentices and the Building Crafts Training School and the Vauxhall College of Further Education supported, as are charities.

The Hall was on a site leased in 1463 from the Convent of Holy Trinity, off Basinghall Street. The buildings were purchased in 1562 but were burned down in 1666. The rebuilt Hall was sold in 1865 but the site is still known as Masons' Avenue.
