History:
Joiners made wooden glued joints such as mortice and tenon and use wood pins, whereas carpenters use only nails. Ceilers are wood carvers. A Guild was formed in 1375 and received a Charter in 1571. The Livery of over 100 supports the City and Guilds of London Institute and the Building Crafts Training School.

The former Hall in Upper Thames Street was built between 1518 and 1551 and burnt in 1666. It was rebuilt and again burnt in 1694. The next Hall of 1696 was let in 1799 but once more burnt in 1811. It was rebuilt as a warehouse but destroyed in 1940. The site was sold.
