History:
After mentions as Hostellers in the 14th and 15th centuries, the first Charter was granted in 1514, the name Innholders distinguishing them from the servant hostlers. The present Livery of a little over a 100 has some connections with the trade. Homes for aged persons have been opened at Wimbledon, with three at Tunbridge Wells.

The Hall, first mentioned in 1522 on the present site, was burnt in 1666 and rebuilt for opening in 1671. It was partly rebuiilt in 1885-6, suffered slight damage in the First World War and severe damage in the Second. In 1950-2 it was partly rebuilt with Col E D J Mathews as architect. Offices and basement were added in 1958-9.
