Granted 25 June 1579 by Robert Cooke, Clarenceux King of Arms.

History:
Received Ordinances in 1272 and their first Charter in 1439. They worked in Cordoba goatskin leather and made shoes, leather bottles and harness. They now support Cordwainers' Technical College, the City and Guilds of London Institute and the City University. A very wide range of charities helps nurses, the blind, the deaf and dumb, clergymen's widows, ex-servicemen and almshouses. The Livery numbers 135.

The former Hall was in the gardens around St Paul's Cathedral on a site acquired at the end of the 14th century. The first Hall was rebuilt in 1577, again after the Great Fire, and once more in 1788, but was destroyed in 1941 after which the site was compulsorily purchased.
