History:
In 1977 the Company was granted its Livery which already numbers over 250 professionally qualified accountants. A charitable trust has been established to support charities in the City and the profession. The Company gives a substantial prize to the best student of the year and in 1980 began assisting training in the Commonwealth.

The existing professional headquarters of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Moorgate Place are used as the Company's Hall. The original Hall, designed by John Belcher, was built in 1890-93. Belcher's partner, J J Joass, built an extension in 1930-31 as a continuation of the earlier design. In 1959 William Whitfield was designed to design a further extension, including a Great Hall. The new building was opened by the Queen in May 1970. In addition to the Council Chamber, Guests' Room, Members' Room, reception rooms and committee rooms, there are a library with over 26,000 books on accounting, law, finance and taxation and a restaurant. The collection of modern silver, designed by Gerald Benney, comprises some 600 pieces.
