History:
Received Ordinances in 1333 and the first Charter in 1477. They run the Building Crafts Training School in Great Titchfield Street, award educational bursaries, have almshouses in Godalming, govern Rustington Convalescent Home and have special relations with the Carpenters' Company of Philadelphia. The Livery is about 130.

The Hall of 1429 was near City Wall and surrounded by a garden which saved it in the Great Fire. It was demolished in 1876 and reopened nearby in 1880, then destroyed in 1941. The new Hall, designed by Austen, Hall and Partners, was opened in 1960. It contains excellent examples of modern carpentry, and its dining capacity is about 230.
