History:
The Hall of 1429 was near City Wall and surrounded by a garden which saved it in the Great Fire. It
was demolished in 1876 and reopened nearby in 1880, then destroyed in 1941. The new Hall, designed
by Austen, Hall and Partners, was opened in 1960. It contains excellent examples of modern carpentry,
and its dining capacity is about 230.
